Royal Bengal Tiger, the national animal of India is its biggest attraction. There are 55 tiger reserves in India that are home to 80% of the world’s tiger population. Ranthambore, Jim Corbett, Kaziranga and Bandhavgarh national parks as well as Tiger Reserves such as Tadoba-Andhari, Nagarahole, Pench, Panna and many more are home to the “world’s most beautiful & attractive animal” the tiger.
India also is the only refuge for world’s last remaining Asiatic Lions. Gir National Park in the state of Gujrat, is the only place you can see wild Asiatic lions. Apart from that Indian deserts are home to Indian Wolves, Desert Foxes and Stripped Hyenas.
This wonderful sub-continent also home to three different species of leopards namely the Indian Common Leopard (Panthera pardus fusca) which has approximate 12,000 to 15,000 population and two elusive leopard species which are Snow Leopard and Clouded Leopard. Apart from that India holds many small cat species.
India is also blessed with four different types of bears which are Sloth Bear, Asiatic Black Bear, Sun Bear and Himalayan Brown Bear.
Kaziranga and Manas also parks where you can see the Great One-horned Rhino in India.
Apart from that India is home to 1377 bird species as of 2023, of which 81 are endemic to the country. Furthermore India as a good variety of monkeys that include the famous Lion-tailed Macaque, Golden Langur and Hanuman Langur, as well as Hoolock Gibbon which is the only ape found in India.
